Football is back. I am back. I’m winning bets again, the birds are winning again, and I couldn’t be happier that I’m not stuck watching baseball every night.
The Birds looked awful in the first half, and admitted it with this tweet;
The second half was absolutely electric. Wentz is a legitimate MVP candidate and our weapons are insane; I love Desean Jackson so fucking much. Wentz had 0 touchdowns 50+ yards last season; he had 2 to Jackson alone on Sunday. O-line looked solid as well, and the D shined in the second half.
To make the game even better, Mike Scott fucked up some racist Eagles fans. I fucking love football energy; there’s nothing like hundreds of people drinking at 8am at Jetro and talking that shit. Great week 1 for the birds, even though they didn’t cover -10 on a garbage time touchdown; missed picks that pissed off chris.
While the birds shined, our beloved Nick Foles broke his collarbone, upsetting Jags fans, Eagles fans, and all fans of that big dicked legend. Jags defense looked like trash and put up -8 fantasy points. He did play Patty Mahomes though, who made Sammy Watkins look good; is he back?
Watkins put up 9 catches for 198 yards and 3 TDs; he wasn’t the only receiver to open eyes this weekend. Hollywood Brown, a rookie out of Oklahoma, put up 4 catches for 147 yards and 2 touchdowns, with his first 2 catches being long touchdowns. He did have Lamar Jackson though, who won the week with his 5 throwing touchdowns and only 3 incomplete passes. He did play the trash Dolphin, but the Ravens looked great on Sunday.
In other games, the Jets blew a 16-0 lead in the fourth and lost 17-16. That franchise is a joke, but there are a few positive takeaways. The defense looked great, and Leveon is gonna be old Leveon again.
While Sam Darnold was throwing nothing but screens (28/41 with only 175 yards; 6.25 yards per completion), Baker Mayfield was throwing picks. The Browns were hyped up way too much this offseason and came into the Titans game way too cocky. Mike Vrable is a great coach, and Mariota looked legit on Sunday; the Browns did not.
OBJ came into the game with a $200,000 watch on, so at least the Browns still have swag?
While Browns fans may be worried about the efficiency of Nick Chubb (17 carries for 75 yards),the Chargers have no more worries about their running game. The franchise has been worried all summer about signing Melvin Gordon, and Austin Ekeler proved that they need not worry anymore. The backup had a rushing touchdown and 2 receiving touchdowns, and the Chargers edged the Colts in OT.
The game I was somehow the most glued to during the 4 o’clock games was the Cardinals, Lions game. What a boring game going into it, but it did not disappoint. Kyler Murray looked terrible in the first half, but he proved he can be a QB in this league with his late comeback to get the tie. Larry Fitzgerald isn’t going anywhere; he put up 8 catches for 113 yards and a touchdown. Teams gonna be lowkey trash this year, but the late comeback and the defense looked good enough to win 6 games this year; not terrible based on what I expected
2 Monday games, but what a great first week of football; I needed this.
