On behalf our all of us a Sofa Sleepers we would like to send a birthday wishes to the late great Jerry Garcia(8/1/42-8/9/95). Jerry Garcia was a founding member of one of the biggest counterculture band of the 1960s, The Grateful Dead. He was highly renowned for his improvisation abilities, he wasn't afraid to fire off a 10 to 15 minute guitar solo at any given moment of a live show. Also, for any guitar nerds like myself, his use of the Mixolydian mode (linked if you really give a shit about it).
From the 60s to the 90s The Dead toured all around the word, acquiring one of the most loyal fanbases in all of music. These “Deadheads” would follow the band from show to show, making ends meet along the way. I will let Jerry describe in his own words these loyal fans. “We're like licorice. Not everybody likes licorice, but the people who like licorice really like licorice.”
